Microsoft is gearing up for the next update of its Windows Phone OS, but it looks like some Russians have been dancing the Tango early.
Screenshots of Windows Phone 7.6 Tango have leaked on Russian site WP7forum.ru, showing off some of its new features.
Those features include a native voice recording app and the ability to add multiple attachments to a single MMS message, as seen above. You'll also be able to automatically download and update apps via Zune, as well as manage roaming settings.
Tango is something of a stopgap to broaden the Windows Phone users base before the big update, Apollo, hits later in the year. As such it's aimed at users of budget devices, lowering its requirements to 256MB RAM instead of the current 384MB, and adding support for 3MP cameras instead of the existing 5MP minimum spec.
If you're using a phone with 256MB RAM, Tango will work – albeit with some restrictions, which it will flag up. Some applications won't install, while 3rd party Live Tiles won't automatically update. In addition, you won't be able to manage podcasts on your Windows Phone, and it won't handle video streams greater than 4MBs.
Finally, Tango will let you export contacts to their phone's SIM card and manage contacts directly on the SIM – in a bid to encourage you to upgrade your phone.
